Job Summary:

Auto Painters are responsible for painting vehicles and repairing minor paint defects, ensuring that the final product meets customer requirements and quality standards. They use their knowledge of paint application techniques, color matching, and repair procedures to achieve an excellent paint finish. Auto Painters also keep their work area clean and organized, maintain tools and equipment, and follow safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare vehicles for painting by masking, sanding, and filling in minor dents and scratches.
• Select the appropriate paint color and mix the paint to match the vehicle’s original color.
• Apply paint using various techniques such as spray guns, brushes, and rollers.
• Monitor the drying process and make any necessary touch-ups.
• Buff and polish painted surfaces to achieve a smooth and glossy finish.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
• Keep the work area clean and organized.
• Maintain and clean tools and equipment.
• Follow safety regulations and use personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in auto painting or a related field preferred.
• Knowledge of paint application techniques and color matching.
• Familiarity with different types of paint and their uses.
• Ability to use and maintain auto painting equipment.
• Attention to detail and quality.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.

Experience:

Auto Painter experience can vary depending on the individual and their level of training and practice. Some Auto Painters may have formal training through a vocational or technical school, while others may have learned on the job through apprenticeships or on-the-job training.
